Luis Suarez encourages Darwin Nunez after his transfer to Liverpool

Luis Suarez is happy to see his compatriot Darwin Nunez follow in his footsteps by signing with Liverpool.

Darwin Nunez has the full support of Luis Suarez in the challenge he has set himself to become the new Uruguayan star of the Reds. El Pistolero has encouraged him to sign a great course at Anfield and leave the same mark as he did in this prestigious club.

While we wonder how long Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah will stay at the Mersey, the vice-champion of England has been working lately to strengthen its ranks in the attack. The Colombian winger Luis Diaz was recruited in January and then 100 million euros were invested in Nunez. Jurgen Klopp made sure to bring even more firepower to his team. And the latest arrival at Liverpool hoping to follow in the footsteps of his illustrious predecessor.

Can Nunez follow Suarez to the Reds?
The Reds signed Suarez from Ajax in the January 2011 transfer window and saw him score 82 goals for the club in 133 appearances, while winning the prestigious PL Player of the Year award.

Nunez is hoping to make a similar impact at Anfield and with that in mind he has received the support of his fellow countryman.

After posting an image on social media with the words “Forever Uruguayan”, the new Liverpool player received the following response from his Celeste teammate: “I was first! But I hope you’ll be the first in terms of goals. Hug!!!”

Nunez then added during his exchange with Suarez, “I’m proud to follow in your footsteps. I hope I can perform as well as you did at Liverpool.”

Suarez had advised Nunez at Barcelona
The Reds moved quickly to put a deal in place this summer after watching Nunez score 34 goals for Benfica in all competitions last season. With these dazzling performances he attracted the interest of many big names across Europe. Manchester United was also among his courtiers. Liverpool finally beat their nemesis and got their hands on this great prospect.

Furthermore, Suarez revealed that he had once advised Barcelona to acquire the services of his compatriot but his requests had gone unheeded. “I recommended Darwin to Barcelona when he was in Almeria. I have 15 years of international experience. I know a lot about strikers”.
