Manchester City, the big announcement

Manchester City has made official the arrival of Erling Haaland in its ranks. The Norwegian striker has signed a 5-year contract with the Skyblues.

This is it, Erling Haaland is officially a Manchester City player. After several months of speculation and the announcement of the English club of an agreement in principle with Dortmund on May 10, the arrival of the Norwegian striker was made official by the Skyblues on their Twitter account.

Manchester City are delighted to announce the signing of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund. The 21-year-old will join the club on July 1 after signing a five-year contract that binds him to the Etihad until 2027,” read the statement published on Monday.

A great pride
Haaland follows in the footsteps of his father Alf-Inge, who played for the Cityzens between 2000 and 2003, and was delighted to meet the media of the reigning English champions. “It is a pride for me and my family. I’ve always followed City and I’ve loved doing so in recent seasons. There are many world-class players and Pep (Guardiola) is one of the greatest coaches in history, so I think I’m in the right place to achieve my goals.

At 21 years old, the Norwegian is taking a new step in his career after a more than successful stint in Germany. In 89 games with the Marsupials, he scored a whopping 86 goals, a ratio of 0.96 goals per game and a goal every 84 minutes. He may be the missing piece in Guardiola’s puzzle to finally help City win their first ever Champions League.
