Ousmane Dembélé and Barça have reached an agreement

After a long suspense, Ousmane Dembélé and FC Barcelona have found an agreement to extend their romance.

The soap opera Ousmane Dembélé is coming to an end. While he is officially a free player since June 30, the Frenchman would have finally resolved to sign a contract extension with Barcelona.

Dembélé has accepted a salary cut
According to information from the daily Sport, the French international has accepted the conditions that have been submitted to him by the Blaugrana officials. He has agreed to receive a lower salary than that which he received previously. According to several sources, he will now receive 8M€, rather than 12M€.

Speaking to Cadena Cope this Saturday evening, Joan Laporta, the Barcelona president, did not confirm the news when asked about Dembélé. He just said what he has been saying for several months, that the world champion “will extend” if he accepts the conditions offered to him.

Dembélé will extend for two years
The new lease of the former Rennes will see him stay at Barça until 2024. A news that Xavi, the coach, must be pleased. The Catalan technician had made every effort to keep his winger. He had even personally invested with the management for this saga to have a favorable outcome.

Dembélé, too, still had as a priority to continue at Barcelona, even if he was slow to give his approval. Since last December, following his return from injury, he has found the joy of playing and also a convincing performance on the field. He sees no reason to go elsewhere, although he has long let believe the contrary.

As a reminder, Dembélé had arrived at the Blaugrana in 2017 and for a fee of 140M€. It remains, moreover, the most expensive recruit in the history of the club ahead of Philippe Coutinho. He now has 150 games and 32 goals on his counter with the Catalans.
