PSG : amount, salary, contract… Details of Alphonse Aréola’s transfer to West Ham
On loan to West-Ham from PSG in 2021-2022, the French goalkeeper will continue his career with the English club.
Alphonse Aréola will finally find some stability in his career. The third goalkeeper of the French team has been on loan for several seasons while he is still under contract with PSG. The capital club that trusted him for a season and a half as number one then took the decision to bring Keylor Navas to be more solid and thus loaned Alphonse Areola.
12 million euros in the coffers of PSG
On loan to Real Madrid, Fulham and then West-Ham while he has already passed through Lens, Bastia and Villarreal in addition to PSG in the past, Alphonse Aréola has finally found a sustainable point of fall. Last season, the Frenchman flourished at West-Ham despite being in competition with Lukasz Fabianski and not being David Moyes’ first choice in goal for the Hammers.
If Alphonse Areola was happy and performing with West-Ham, when he played, the London club was also satisfied with the French international. So much so that the Hammers took the decision to keep Alphonse Aréola. The 29-year-old goalkeeper will be bought by the Premier League club for a sum between 10 and 15 million euros. English media reports suggest a fee of 10 million euros, while RMC Sport suggests a deal of 12 million euros, the amount of the purchase option held by West-Ham.
A five-year contract at West-Ham
At the end of his contract with PSG in June 2023, Alphonse Aréola will therefore link a second season in the same club for the first time since the 2018-2019 season. The transfer of the French international is imminent and should be made official at the beginning of this week. The salary of the Frenchman has long been a brake in the negotiations. West-Ham not being willing to match the salary he earns at PSG, which is about 8 million euros per year.
However, with the interest of Newcastle for the French keeper, negotiations have resumed and the two parties have found an agreement, whose amount has not leaked for the moment. However, the duration of the contract is known. According to Sky Sports, Alphonse Aréola will sign a five-year contract with the London club.
A few months before the 2022 World Cup, Alphonse Aréola will begin a new stage in his career. Third goalkeeper in the French team behind Hugo Lloris and Mike Maignan despite his rather limited playing time last season, the future ex PSG goalkeeper will now have to battle and unseat Fabiański for the number one position at the Hammers in order to totally (re)launch his career.
